The village

Fern Cottage is a few minutes safe walk from the village centre, where you can find the Iden Stores selling everyday provisions and newspapers, and the Bell pub dating from the 11th century with good beer and a good food menu. A few minutes further on are the attractive All Saints' Church and the park with children's play area.

There is a bus service into Rye during the day (except Sundays), and Rye also has a station on the Marshlink Line serving Ashford International and Hastings, with an hourly service in each direction.

Further afield are many places of interest, including Bodiam and Scotney Castles, the Kent & East Sussex heritage railway, Great Dixter house and gardens, Smallhythe Place and Vineyard, and the attractive old towns of Tenterden and Battle, as well as the resort of Hastings.

There are also many good country walks in the area - bring your stout boots or wellies!
